Payment systems are currently facing a multitude of pressures for change. These stem particularly from European integration and technological progress. The Bank of Finland seeks to contribute to the development of an efficient and modern payment system in Finland and Europe as a whole.
The Bank of Finland organised the first Payments Forum seminar on 29 May 2007, the purpose of which was to promote cooperation between relevant Finnish parties, identify common views on the development of payment systems and find effective channels for exercising influence. Decision-makers from banks, various corporations and the public sector alike were invited to take part in the discussions.
Presentations at the latest Payments Forum held on 10 May 2012 can be accessed from the Bank of Finland's website (the opening remarks by Governor Liikanen and the presentations by the representative from the European Commission and the European Central Bank are in English, the others in Finnish only).
