Mika Pösö appointed Head of General Secretariat at the Bank of Finland

Mika Pösö, MSc. (Econ) has been appointed Head of the General Secretariat at the Bank of Finland, and will take up the post on 1 September 2012.
 
Mika Pösö came to the Bank of Finland via the Young Professionals programme in 1995aHe has worked in the Bank's Market Operations, Monetary Policy and Research, as well as Banking Operations departments and most recently as Head of Communications, within the General Secretariat. At the beginning last decade he worked within Directorate General of the Monetary Policy and Market Operations at the European Central Bank. 
 
The General Secretariat functions as the head of staff organisation for the Bank's Board of Governors. It is in this role that the department is responsible for strategic planning, decision-making preparation, international affairs, communication, legal affairs as well as the Bank's information management  and library services.  The General Secretariat' responsibilities also include the Board's senior secretarial staff as well as the arrangements involved with the Board and Parliamentary Supervisory Council's meetings. The Head of the General Secretariat also serves as Secretary to the Board of the Bank of Finland.
 
In this post, Mika Pösö will succeed Antti Suvanto, Ph.D (Econ), who will become an Advisor to the Board from 1 September 2012.
