Tuuli Koivu took her master’s degree in economics with a major in macroeconomics at the University of Jyväskylä in 2001. She is currently finalizing her doctoral thesis on Chinese monetary policy.
Koivu joined BOFIT in February 2001. In 2001–2003, she monitored economic developments in the Baltic states, and in 2004 she shifted focus to China. In autumn 2008, Koivu began to monitor global trade and commodity markets in the Bank of Finland´s Monetary Policy and Research department, in the office for Monitoring.
From January 2009 to January 2010 Koivu worked at the European Central Bank, where she monitored developments in the Chinese economy, prepared forecasts and participated in policy work.
From February 2010 onwards, Koivu has been monitoring the United States’ economic developments in the Bank of Finland’s Monetary Policy and Research department, in the office for International and Monetary Economy.
