Introduction

Tuomas Saarenheimo, DSocSc is Head of Monetary Policy and Research at the Bank of Finland. His previous positions within the Bank have included Senior Adviser to the Board and Head of Division in the former Economics Department. Dr Saarenheimo began working at the Bank of Finland in 1994.

Outside the Bank, Dr Saarenheimo has served on the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as a national expert for the European Commission in Brussels and as a visiting researcher at the National Bureau of Economic Research in the United States, among other positions. Dr Saarenheimo took his doctorate at the University of Helsinki in 1994.
