Maritta Nieminen, (57) LLM (trained on the bench), has been appointed Head of the Bank of Finland’s Legal Affairs unit. She will take up the post on 1 November 2012. The position is for a five-year term.
Ms Nieminen has been employed by the Bank of Finland as legal adviser in the Legal Affairs unit since 1988. She has been a member of the ECB’s Legal Committee since its creation.
The Legal Affairs unit is responsible for handling the Bank of Finland’s legal issues and is involved in preparations related to Eurosystem decision-making.
