Byung-Yeon Kim (Seoul National University): The North Korean economy: Current evaluation and future integration

Abstract

This presentation discusses the key features of the North Korean socialist economy focusing on recent economic performance and ‘marketisation from below’. It further explores the four scenarios regarding North Korea’s economic future: status-quo; gradual integration with the South; radical but peaceful unification; radical and violent unification.
