Payment Systems

The Payment Systems department produces central bank services for currency supply and ensures reliable and efficient payments as well as the infrastructure of payment and settlement systems and their further development. The department is responsible for preparing the Bank of Finland’s policy on payment systems and analysis of payments technologies.

The Head of Department (Head of Payment Systems) is Päivi Heikkinen.

Payment Systems includes the following divisions and units:

Cash

The Cash division is in charge of the operative wholesale functions of cash supply, through its regional branch in Vantaa. Its duties also cover the planning of cash supply, cash supply systems and surveillance and the provision of guidelines.

The Head of Division (Head of Cash) is Heli Snellman.

Oversight of Market Infrastructure

The Oversight of Market Infrastructure division is responsible for general oversight of financial market infrastructures and also participates in their development.

The Head of Division (Head of Oversight of Market Infrastructure) is Jussi Terho.

Fintech 

The Fintech division is responsible for research into digitalisation and innovation in payment and settlement systems and participates in their development.

The Head of Division (Head of Fintech) is Aleksi Grym.
