The Institute focuses on macroeconomic and financial market issues in emerging economies. It also carries out research into structural change in the economy – with primary focus on the countries of relevance to the research, Russia and China. BOFIT publishes a weekly digest of economic news items from Russia and China, in Finnish and English. In addition, research studies are published in two publication series.
BOFIT not only assists the Bank of Finland and other public institutions; it also serves private businesses, scientific bodies, the media and interested individuals, both domestically and internationally.
BOFIT experts benefit from a broad network of international contacts involving public officials and research institutes in the countries studied and in third countries, international experts working on transition issues and international organisations. BOFIT sponsors an ongoing Visiting Scholars Programme, inviting top researchers from the countries studied, as well as other countries.
