The Parliamentary Supervisory Council will visit Washington D.C. and New York on 16–22 October 2022. During the visit, the Council will meet representatives of the Federal Reserve System (Fed) and one of its regional banks, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The Council will also visit the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The Council will use these visits to study, among other things, the outlook for the United States and the global economy, US monetary and fiscal policy, and recent trends in the financial sector and the international financial system.

The Parliamentary Supervisory Council will also visit the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the research organisation Brookings Institution. Topics to be discussed include the outlook for the US stock market, the country’s economic situation and economic policy, and American views on global economic challenges amid increased geopolitical tensions. Finally, the Council will also visit the United States Department of the Treasury and the United Nations (UN) Headquarters, and will meet with financial sector representatives.

The trip will be led by Antti Lindtman, Chair of the Parliamentary Supervisory Council. In addition to four members of the Council and its adviser and secretaries, the members of the Board of the Bank of Finland will also participate in the trip.
