New statistical data on loans to non-financial corporations

A new dashboard on loans to non-financial corporations has been published on the Bank of Finland's website. It provides even more detailed and comprehensive statistical data on bank financing for Finnish non-financial corporations^[1]. The new dashboard addresses the growing need for information corporate financing by banks.

The dashboard data is based on the Analytical Credit Database compiled by the Bank of Finland. The statistics collects loan-by-loan data on loans granted by credit institutions (banks) to all sectors other than households. The microdata enables examination of corporate loans at a more detailed level and provides more in-depth information on bank lending and financing conditions for non-financial corporations.

Data in the dashboard can be viewed by the non-financial corporation’s size, age class, industry, and loan type. Regional examination is also possible. Moreover, the loan stock is broken down by purpose of use and interest-rate linkage. In addition to the development of the corporate loan stock, the dashboard allows examination of the development of the non-performing loan stock, arrears, impairments, and credit losses. The dashboard also enables viewing of time series. The dashboard’s time series start from January 2020. The dashboard complements the previous statistical offering by enabling, among other things, the examination of bank financing for small and medium-sized enterprises and by providing visibility into the purposes of use of corporate loans as well as their geographical distribution.

The figures in the dashboard include loans granted by credit institutions operating in Finland to non-financial corporations excl. housing corporations.  Some data is updated monthly (loan stock and arrears), and some quarterly (credit losses, non-performing loan stock, and impairments). The dashboard is updated regularly in accordance with the statistical release calendar.
