Bank of Finland’s Annual Report on Responsible Investment 2025 and updated responsible investment principles have been published

The Bank of Finland has published its 2025 Annual Report on Responsible Investment regarding its investment assets, along with updated principles for responsible investment.

The report outlines the climate impacts of the Bank of Finland’s own investment assets and the progress made towards its climate targets. The long-term objective of the Bank of Finland’s investment activities is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 at the latest. The achievement of the target is supported by asset-class-specific intermediate targets, which are used to monitor developments and guide investment activities.

The report’s climate-related key figures have been prepared in accordance with reporting frameworks jointly agreed within the Eurosystem, and the reporting complies with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

The updated principles of responsible investment clarify the investment restrictions related to weapons restricted by international agreements, as well as other controversial weapons. As a result, investment restrictions have been specified for different weapon categories. The update takes into account the changed geopolitical and security policy environment.
