Total value of households’ investment fund holdings grew considerably in the second quarter

The total value of the investments was boosted by both appreciation and new fund subscriptions.

The total value of households’ investment fund holdings grew considerably in the second quarter of the year, April–June. At the end of June 2026, households’ holdings in investment funds amounted to EUR 60.5 billion, compared with EUR 53.7 billion at the end of March 2026. The value of households’ investment fund holdings declined in March because of weak equity market performance. The total value of investment fund holdings at the end of June was the highest on record. The total value was boosted during the second quarter by both the appreciation of existing holdings and new fund subscriptions.

During the second quarter, households made substantial net subscriptions[1] to investment funds, totalling EUR 1.4 billion. Of these net subscriptions, EUR 568 million were made in June. In addition to positive net subscriptions, the value of investment fund holdings rose by EUR 5.4 billion during the second quarter.

Of the total investment fund holdings at the end of June, EUR 47.7 billion (79%) was in domestic[2] funds and EUR 12.8 billion in foreign funds[3]. Of the quarter’s net subscriptions, 64% went to domestic investment funds.
