The Parliamentary Supervisory Council will travel to Germany, South Africa and Mozambique for a trip lasting 19–26 January 2017. During its travels the Council will study the operations of the European Central Bank (ECB) and the central banks of South Africa and Mozambique. The Council will use its visits to study the monetary policy of the ECB as well as the financial systems and situations in South Africa and Mozambique plus the prospects for the African economies.

The Council will also visit the finance ministries of South Africa and Mozambique and meet Members of Parliament of the countries in question, as well as discussing matters of current interest with local EU and IMF representatives.

The trip leader is Matti Vanhanen, Chairman of the Parliamentary Supervisory Council. In addition to the six MPs of the Council, Erkki Liikanen, Governor of the Bank of Finland, Deputy Governor Pentti Hakkarainen and Anton Mäkelä, Secretary to the Parliamentary Supervisory Council, will participate in the trip.
