The Bank of Finland is to organise jointly with the Oesterreichische Nationalbank an international conference (‘CEEI 2012 – Conference on European Economic Integration: Achieving balanced growth in the CESEE countries’) to be held in Helsinki on 26 and 27 November 2012.
 
This high-level meeting will deal with the recovery of the European economy from the crisis of recent years. The issues on the agenda will address the adjustment of the real economy in both the EU and beyond, focusing on changes in the financial sector’s operating conditions in coming years.
 
Participants at the conference will include top-level researchers, well-known central bank managers and representatives of the financial sector.
 
The conference will be hosted by Erkki Liikanen, Governor of the Bank of Finland, and Ewald Nowotny, Governor of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank. The keynote speakers will be Professor Danny Quah (London School of Economics), Professor Florencio López-de-Silanes (EDHEC Business School) and Seppo Honkapohja, Member of the Board (Bank of Finland).
 
Panellists will include Ahmet Faruk Aysan, Member of the Board, the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey; Dimitar Bogov, Governor, the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia, Karolina Ekholm, Deputy Governor, Sveriges Riksbank; Ardo Hansson, Governor, Eesti Pank; and Klaas Knot, Governor, De Nederlandsche Bank.
