The Bank of Finland is delighted to host the launch of a new CEPR-VoxEU eBook entitled
Bretton Woods, Brussels, and Beyond – Redesigning the Institutions of Europe
Edited by Nauro F. Campos and Jan-Egbert Sturm
on Tuesday 19 June 2018 at 15:00–16:30 in the Bank of Finland Kultakanta Hall, Snellmaninaukio, Helsinki
The book addresses two overarching questions. Firstly, what lessons can be drawn from the institutional framework created at Bretton Woods following World War II (and the subsequent globalisation) for the future of Europe (and for the euro area)? Secondly, is a European Monetary Fund (EMF) the answer? Would it prove to be sufficient on its own or are other institutions needed? And if so, how should these other institutions be designed?
Program
Prof. Nauro F. Campos (Brunel University London): Motivation, contribution and overview of the book
Kari Korhonen (Senior Advisor, European Stability Mechanism): A history of the ESM
Prof. Mathias Hoffmann (University of Zurich): Financial integration in the Euro Area
