During next decades the climate change will be one of the most prominent challenges that mankind needs to solve. Due to climate change and changing customer preferences firms need to adapt their technologies and business models. Also financial sector will be affected. To fulfill our duty towards future generations and to safeguard financial stability, it is important to take action. Substantial investments are needed in various sectors to counteract negative effects, to avoid economic costs and financial risks.
In order to enhance the exchange of views and ideas on these topical issues, the Bank of Finland and the Finnish Ministry of Finance are co-hosting a conference entitled Greener Finance for Sustainable Future. The conference will focus on issues with direct relevance to the green finance. Green financing will also be one of the priorities during the Finnish presidency.
TOPICS AND PROGRAMME
The program will deal with the following themes
- How the climate change will impact the financial industry
- How financial industry can support green financing
- The importance of digitalization, fintechs and information for green investments
- How to define what is green and what is not
- The importance of climate change for financial risks and supervision
The conference will take place on 30-31 October 2019 at Finlandia Hall in Helsinki. The registration for this event has already closed and the event is fully booked.
The conference will be streamed and following live stream does not require separate registration.
